Achieving your goals in Africa

With the eyes of the world on South Africa ahead of the FIFA 2010 World Cup in June – the event team at Brandon Hill Communications (BHC) has been at Wembley Stadium, delivering an important business briefing for UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
The event, for over 200 delegates, focused on the opportunities available for UK companies looking to break into the 14 African markets covered by UKTI.
The audience was given a unique insight into the prospects and challenges of doing business in Africa. Presentations were given by both UKTI experts from across the continent and business speakers with a wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience.
The event also gave delegates the chance to get interactive with the panelists through a text and email question system, which resulted in a lively question and answer session. The event concluded with an afternoon of round-table discussions focusing on specific markets.
The quality of speakers and the range of delegates attending the event were positively received with 76.6 per cent of respondents reporting that the contacts they made were very good or good. There was also high-praise for the BHC team with 94 per cent of UK businesses attending the event thought the organisation and practical arrangements were good or very good.
Patrick Ney, Manager, South Africa, UKTI Africa Desk, said: “I was impressed by the organisation in the run up to the event and the implementation on the day.
“The work Brandon Hill Communications did in advance paid off and I think resulted in companies having genuinely fruitful interaction with the UKTI staff in our 14 African markets. Hopefully this will lead to increased business as a result.”
