Broadmead

For the past three years Brandon Hill Communications has supported Broadmead, the South West region's largest retail destination, in the centre of Bristol.

Our work has involved helping counter the impact on trade caused by the construction of the £500million Cabot Circus development, which opened in September 2008.

And following Cabot Circus's launch, we have run a creative communications and promotions programme to promote Broadmead. The objective is to connect with Bristol shoppers, promoting the familiarity and affection that they have for this established retail area.

Our campaign integrates live events with targeted promotional and editorial activity underpinned by advertising and online support.

We have won support for the retailers from senior press and broadcast journalists. We have mined a rich seam of nostalgia and sentimentality, generating features, personal interest stories - demonstrating the fondness that local people have for Broadmead.

Despite being affected by recession, Broadmead retailers - including a number of independents - have backed this campaign, creating a marketing budget to continue to promote their retail offering. This activity has enabled them to benefit from the new interest in Bristol city centre generated by Cabot Circus.

Business Link

Brandon Hill Communications provides public relations support for this government-funded service, which delivers practical advice and support for entrepreneurs, helping them start, run and grow businesses.

The Business Link account team at Brandon Hill has considerable experience developing campaigns aimed at the SME businesses. We understand the audience characteristics and develop relevant messages.

Media relations continue to play a vital role in this work. We maintain strong relationships with business editors, developing opportunities for strong collaborative projects.

Our relationship with the media was evident last year when we developed an innovative communications programme, creating a powerful partnership with 15 of the region's most influential newspapers. Key messages were reinforced using television and radio advertising and online channels.

New media is playing a growing role in our campaigns, providing valuable new opportunities for developing and building relationships with target businesses.

Developed during a period of fastgrowing media evolution in the regions, our campaigns on behalf of Business Link have been pioneering, hardworking and linked to very clear evaluation processes.

Home Office

In 2006, three members of our team were seconded to the Home Office to provide strategic communications support for the flagship Impact programme. This involved developing and implementing a stakeholder relations programme, involving the nation's 43 police services, local authorities and other audiences.

The project involved working with the programme director in developing a messaging strategy and implementing this through events, the creation of media channels and provision of content for existing channels provided by key partners and stakeholders.

Safer Bristol Partnership

Brandon Hill Communications has considerable experience supporting partnerships and helping organisations to work together in developing and promoting coordinated, shared messages.

The Safer Bristol Partnership brings together the city's police force and local authority with the broad range of agencies involved in tackling drug misuse and crime and ensuring the health and safety of local people.

In 2008, Brandon Hill collaborated with a range of Safer Bristol partners in developing a communications strategy for the partners.

In the interim we have developed a robust communications framework that allows the partners to achieve clarity in messages for the community and take a planned collegiate approach to their promotion.

This programme has involved collaboration with the local media, community groups and stakeholders.
